In one-to-one places: Comparison of scenes from the game and the TV series The Last of Us
The Network compared the first episode of the new TV series The Last of Us (TLoU) with the video game on which the show was filmed. Viewers found that the creators almost frame-by-frame repeated the dialogues of the characters, the scene of the death of Joel's daughter and the moment of Ellie's attack on the military.
The Last of Us game was released in 2013 and became famous for its cinematic plot, vivid characters and high-quality dialogues. In 2020‑ a sequel appeared. And on January 15, the first episode of the series "One of Us" premiered on HBO.
According to the plot, in 2003 a pandemic started caused by a mutated mushroom. People became infected either when they inhaled spores, or when they came into contact with the saliva or blood of infected people. And they turned into zombies, rushing at the healthy ones.
The overall plot of the film adaptation almost does not differ from the original — smuggler Joel (actor Pedro Pascal), who in the past survived the death of his daughter, is tasked with escorting 14-year-old Ellie through the post-apocalyptic USA.
Builder Joel meets the beginning of the pandemic in Austin. The hero tries to take his daughter out of the city, engulfed in chaos, but the military stops him at the exit. Following the order, the soldier shoots Joel and kills his child.
About a quarter of the first episode almost frame-by-frame recreates the start of the game The Last Of Us. The very beginning of the epidemic looked good in the game, in the series it was made more vivid and dynamic.
20 years pass. The main character lives in a safe zone on the outskirts of Boston and works for food stamps. Having lost touch with his brother, who lives in another city, Joel decides to go in search of a relative, despite the fact that it is forbidden to leave the city.
A group of rebels agrees to give him a car and supplies if he takes 14‑year-old Ellie with him. They have to unite in order to survive and cross America, where zombies, slaveholders and cannibals roam.
The creators expanded the plot and dialogues, adapting them to the series, but removed numerous shootouts with opponents.
Perhaps, only the appearance of individual characters has changed dramatically, which, of course, is not a disadvantage: it would be pointless to chase after the appearance of the characters, this is not fan art.
The first season of the series consists of nine episodes. It is planned that new episodes will be released weekly.
