In any modern house, you can find a lot of remotes from household appliances for various purposes. Now another one will be added to them — from the dog. The Ben-Gurion University of Israel has developed a device that allows you to control a four-legged pet without voice commands.

Dog owners living in a big city are well aware of the importance of maintaining voice contact with their pet during a walk. The modern metropolis is full of dangers that a pet can get into if you lose control of it.

Scientists from Israel took up the solution of the problem, who proposed an effective and easy way for the dog and its owner to keep in touch. The remote control of the dog, which is the name of the development so far, is a vest in which four miniature vibration motors and a small battery are built in. The device is put on the dog and secured with straps before walking, and the remote control from the vest remains with the owner.

By pressing the remote control buttons, the dog's owner can activate vibration motors at a distance, creating unique combinations of vibrations. The animal, after a short course of training, associates a particular set of impulses with voice commands and reacts to them in the same way as to the voice of its owner.

Thanks to the device, dog breeders will no longer have to worry if their pet is carried away by a walk and ran away for a considerable distance. Dogs quickly learn a new way of giving commands and perform them as usual.

Testing of the remote control of the dog was carried out on a dog named Ty. A six-year-old male, a cross between a German Shepherd and a Labrador, was raised as a guide dog for a blind owner. Unfortunately, the dog did not perform his responsible task well, constantly being distracted and sniffing around objects. The vest made it easier to interact with the dog, which quickly mastered the commands "lie down", "to me", "spin" and "back" and became more manageable.

Israeli scientists plan to continue testing their development by connecting animals of different breeds, temperament and age to testing the product. They believe that the vest will be appreciated not only by ordinary dog breeders, but also by people with disabilities.

It remains only to regret that the remote control does not have a "pause" button, which you can press to get a good night's sleep instead of a morning walk in the rain.
