How to turn regular photos into anime images with the Loopsie app
Netizens have found a new exciting activity. They're testing an app called Loopsie, which converts photos into anime-style images. Both modern photographs and photos of the past, including memes, are used. The power of the new service has already been tested by Nikita Litvinkov, the Lady in Candibober and the Witness from Fryazino.
It's easy to guess that the Loopsie program uses the power of artificial intelligence. As often happens, the service was created for completely different purposes. In 2018, it was introduced to users as an application for video processing and the new product did not arouse much interest.
But in 2022, a photo editing function was added to it and people began to take a closer look at Loopsie. When the update with the Old School Anime filter was released in August 2023, it was appreciated by millions of users. It became a real hit among social network users.
Using the application, you can change not only faces, but also the background. Loopsie often gets creative and features women with short hair and adds unexpected objects into the background. As always, Twitter users were the first to start experimenting.
One Twitter user processed his old family photo with the app. It turned out very cool and unusual.
Someone processed a frame from the meme video with Nikita Litvinkov “Borscht with cabbage, but not red” with the Loopsie program.
And then it came to the most ancient memes, such as the iconic photo “Witness from Fryazino.”
The application does an excellent job not only of displaying people, but also animals and even food. Currently, the hashtag #loopsie has over 172 million views and is growing in popularity.
To dive into the creative process, you must first download the Loopsie app from the App Store. Unfortunately, only iPhone owners can do this for now. There are older versions of the program that are compatible with Android, but they do not have the plugin we need.
The Old School Anime filter can be found under the first image of a man in the “AI photo” section of the menu. Click on the picture and, following the commands of the program, select the photo and start the process. In a couple of minutes, the anime-style image is ready! You have to pay to create a video. The function will cost $4.99 (496 Russian rubles).
Previously, the Stable Diffusion neural network was tasked with processing memes, and it coped with the tasks with flying colors.
