Source: sobaka.ru1. One of the most serious and influential fashion portals, the American publication WWD, an expert in street fashion, has expanded its boundaries and published the White Nights in St. Petersburg project in two parts.
2. This is a study of the publication on how passers-by dress in Russia, using the example of the cultural capital - more than 30 photographs of ordinary passers-by of the city.
3. Specially at the request of WWD, photographer Polina Tverdaya, who works closely with the publication, worked on the project. All project participants were filmed in the historical center of St. Petersburg.
4. In an editorial, WWD comments on street fashion in Russia like this: “What do they wear when walking along Rubinshtein Street, Nevsky and Bolshaya Konyushennaya during the white nights? A little bit of everything: culottes, trench coats, floor-length dresses, shorts, a lot of stripes, polka dots, checks and prints that are hard to pass by. The administrator of the Tatyana Parfenova fashion house Nadezhda Shaurina and stylist Andrey Korovko distinguished themselves with the latter, who appeared in the frame in suits from the latest collection of Tatyana Parfenova.
5. Published photos are a guide to seasonal trends. Yulia Zhuravleva in jackboots, leather jackets and a suede skirt shows how to wear the 1970s cooler than on Chloe, Saint Laurent and Gucci shows. Maria Guseva teaches how to introduce heavy luxury into everyday wardrobe, Viktor Kudryashev gives a master class on combining a kilt, Nadezhda Shaurina demonstrates how you can combine three different prints in one bow.
6. Polina Tverdaya, project photographer: “In December, I met with WWD fashion editor Barbara Quinn. She came to St. Petersburg for the opening of the exhibition and through the tenth hand came to me. Barbara was delighted with St. Petersburg and invited me to take part in their street style section.”
7. “The first part, which I filmed back in December, was warmly received by the editors of WWD, after which they decided to extend the idea for the second part. Judging by the fact that both times the editors were satisfied, I hope for the continuation of our cooperation.”
8. “Passers-by of St. Petersburg may well claim the role of city sights, because they know how and love unbanal combinations and experiments. They famously mix high brands, look harmonious in a grunge leather jacket, and things from flea markets come to life again on them.
9. “The inhabitants of our city are prone to extravagant exits, but do not boast. Japanese brands love to mix with vintage, mass-market and Russian designer items, while getting an absolute up-to-date.”
10. Recall that WWD published the first street style from the streets of St. Petersburg in January. In that selection there were also the heroes of our magazine - for example, designers Liza Odinokikh and Artem Shumov, photographer Artem Usachev, a regular participant in our contest "Best Dressed in St. Petersburg" Nastya Strunevskaya, artist Laura Zombi, stylists Katya Rok and Masha Rufova. In total, the street style story included 22 photographs taken on Palace Square and Nevsky Prospekt.
