Hello, Galochka: heroes of Soviet films in English-language anime
In March, footage from Soviet anime-style films with recognizable quotes translated into English was widely distributed on social networks. It turned out that these stylizations were made by the Russian artist Dmitry Grozov (aka Ahriman). His Animotion project started with a joke and was supposed to be limited to a couple of works, but now there are 90 of them, and Grozov does not want to interrupt the series.
Previously, Grozov did not seriously consider the Animotion project page in VKontakte, but after a successful series, they began to write a lot to him, and he began to draw for the community more often.
In just one day, from March 20 to March 21, the community of "Ahriman aka Dmitry Grozov" grew from 5,000 to 10 00 subscribers. The artist speaks ironically about the influx of popularity.
In addition to Soviet comedies, the artist has redrawn his favorite Western films in anime: science fiction and action films.
Dmitry Grozov is also the author of the famous Runet image of ninja turtles in the form of Soviet partisans. According to the artist, a copy of this picture was even bought by the co-author of the comic book about turtles, Kevin Eastman.
