Heart of Ukraine

Blogger Anton Petrus says: “This post was written on the Independence Day of Ukraine. This holiday is absolutely empty for many, the only meaning for which is just an excuse to drink. Our country is imperfect. Very much. I don’t even know with what to compare what is happening with us - who will say where the situation is worse - here or in Russia. I don’t remember the author of the phrase, but it is simply brilliant - “I hate the state, but I love the country in which we live.” How many times have I thought about what would happen if I went abroad for permanent residence? And I couldn't imagine it. I love my country, its mountains and rivers. The Black Sea and Crimea, with crowds of tourists, intrusive service and Soviet hotels. I love our fields, and nightmarish roads. Villages with shops that open one day a week. I love Kyiv, which I hate because of the eternal noise and dust. I love people who look like zombies in the morning. I hate a state that does everything to drown its people. I love my house, but I don't understand those who try to manage it. I am crazy about my homeland, I am proud of its past, but I am very afraid of the future. I don’t understand how a “bleeding man” can stand at the head of the state and dishonor the whole people every day. I can’t look at how the nature of the country is being destroyed, how the reserves are being built up by deputies, and the seashores are being built up with hotels of local majors ... And still I love my country ...

The heart of Ukraine is not Kyiv. And not Crimea. This is the Carpathians. Majestic, calm and quiet. Insanely beautiful, with extraordinary magnetism. A place where you can be alone with nature. And with yourself. Naturally, not without flaws - here and off-road, and lack of infrastructure. But let it be better than millions of tourists rushing here to pollute the mountains ... "
