This amazing cat survived the fire, where he received third-degree burns, and then underwent a series of amputations. The cat spent the whole year in a vet clinic in North Carolina, where he took care of other animals. Russell, who himself is still going through the process of recovering from his injuries, goes from room to room and visits animals that are stressed.
"He strives to communicate with all the patients, he just wants to be with them," says the hospital staff. "It seems that he feels when other animals are in pain, he has a special connection with them."
Russell will probably never fully recover — recently, for example, he had surgery on his paws. However, thanks to donations, the cat lives in a clinic where he is loved, groomed and cherished.
