Fidel Castro has died at the age of 90
The leader of the Cuban Revolution, statesman and politician who led the Republic of Cuba for many decades, Fidel Castro died at the age of 91. This was announced on the radio by his brother Raul Castro, to whom Fidel, due to his deteriorating health in 2006, transferred the duties and powers of the head of the State Council and the Council of Ministers.
Fidel Castro's figure is controversial in world history, but it must be admitted that he belonged to a small number of people who were able to change the world. The former revolutionary was known all over the world as an unsurpassed speaker, in September 1960 he held the longest speech in the history of the UN — 4 hours 29 minutes.
We recall the vivid quotes of Fidel Castro.

"What I am saying here is not shared by everyone, but I will say what I think and do it with respect to others."
"I wasn't born poor. My father had thousands of hectares of land. However, I have the honor to note that, contrary to Mr. Bush's statements, I do not have even one dollar now. My entire fortune will easily fit in the pocket of his starched shirt. And if ever I need to hide all my savings in a place that is reliably protected from preventive attacks and the fight against global terrorism, I will definitely ask Mr. Bush to lend me his wonderful pocket. And if my fortune seems too big to Bush, then I give him my entire fortune in advance — as payment for the rental of a pocket."
With Ernest Hemingway.
"I remember myself as a student of the sixth or seventh grade. I was 12 or 13 years old. In the village where I was born, there was no electricity, and it was possible to get there only by horseback — on roads covered with thick mud. For most of the year — when I was in a boarding school in Santiago de Cuba - I felt a strict sexual apartheid. Divorced from different schools, the boys were at an infinite distance from the girls. At least a hundred light-years from each other. It wasn't easy to come to terms with it."
"I am a Marxist-Leninist, and I will remain one until the end of my days."
"I started the revolution with 82 people behind me. If I had to repeat it, fifteen or even ten would be enough for me. Ten people and absolute faith. It doesn't matter how many of you there are. It is important to believe and it is important to have a clear plan."
"Victory is perseverance."
"The better I look, the more people ask me for an interview."

"Of all the American presidents and candidates for this post, I knew only one who, for ethical and religious reasons, did not become an accomplice of the brutal terror against Cuba: it was James Carter. I am sure that, unlike other American presidents, Carter would never have given the order to kill me — because of his beliefs, of course. He was the only President of the United States who made friendly steps towards Cuba."
"Tell me what sport you're competing in, and I'll tell you who colonized you."
"Now that I am ill, I am overwhelmed with questions about what I will do when I return to what some call power. And really, what am I going to do? To fight without rest, as I have done all my life."
"The most advanced weapons, which are crammed into the arsenals of rich and prosperous nations, can easily destroy the uneducated, the sick, the poor and the hungry. But it cannot destroy ignorance, disease, poverty and hunger."

"We need to do something to save humanity! But if the young fail us, everything will collapse."
"Capitalism is disgusting. He brings only war, hypocrisy and rivalry."
"I have always considered myself a happy person, if only because I found a suitable political theory for myself, got into the vortex of the Cuban political crisis and discovered Marxism. All this is like getting lost in the forest and suddenly finding a map."
"I don't like being seen as vindictive. I'm just a fighter. I can use a telescopic sight and an automatic rifle."
"I have never seen any contradictions between the ideas that I live by and the ideas that Jesus lived by."
"I am Cuban. But Hugo Chavez claims that he sees in me a strange mixture of races. And I tend to agree with him. There really is something Indian in my blood, something Canarian, something Celtic and something that I probably don't even know about."
"Cuba is an independent and sovereign country, and the European Union is mistaken if it thinks it can treat it differently than an equal."
"Ideas do not require the support of weapons if they are supported by people."
"I remember once, a long time ago, Che and I went to play golf. But don't think anything like that. Once he was a caddie — he brought balls and clubs to the rich. That's all. Che was a man of ideas."
