On September 6, an exhibition of sculptures by Austrian Erwin Wurm, known for his humorous approach to art, opened in Moscow. This is his first major exhibition in Russia, and includes a new series of abstract pieces made from rubber sausages and wieners, signature obese houses, and the Drinking Sculptures series, featuring a variety of hybrids of vintage furniture.

The exhibition can be visited at the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art until 9 October.

1. Since the end of the 90s, Erwin Wurm has been creating his “One Minute Sculptures”, for which he or other models pose with everyday objects in the most bizarre forms and combinations, often directly in the exhibition space, in front of the public.

2. In 2003, Erwin Wurm created the Obese House sculpture, which became his signature idea. Inside the house, a video was played in which the house asked philosophical questions like “Am I at home?”

6. At first, he tried to work with Opel and General Motors, but their computer modeling was unable to achieve the shape required by the sculptor. As a result, he decided to return to the origins of the automotive industry and create his cars by hand.
