Degree of masculinity
What is courage? This is the question photographer Chad States asked the subjects of his Masculinities photo series. By placing an ad on Craiglist, he invited everyone who considers themselves to be courageous to participate in the project: not only men, but also transsexuals, and even women.
Before photographing, he invited people to choose the pose and place in which they feel the most “masculine”: “I didn’t want to be just a photographer shooting models, I didn’t want to impose my point of view on them, I wanted them to decide for themselves for yourself, as it should be expressed. Both the photos and the answers turned out to be very different, sometimes very strange and even shocking.
Goodbye feminism...

7. Jay: “I feel masculine not only because of my gender, but also because of how I say what I do and how I position myself. It is given from birth. I want to act like a guy, and you don't have to have a dick."
8. Michael: “I feel manly. And I don’t think that this needs to be proven to those who think otherwise (I don’t care about their opinion).”
9. Patrick: “Why am I manly? Hmmm... Because I didn't think about my gender for a second. And despite the fact that I love women (maybe even more than I should), I would never want to be one of them.
10. Andrew: “The first thing I do when I walk into a room is eyeball the guy who can kick my ass and the woman I would like to fuck. Sometimes it happens completely unconsciously, and it makes me anxious.”
11. Beale: “I am emotionally strong, I could always stand up for myself and I was not afraid of anything. It so happens that I am physically very strong, but I never considered this a manifestation of masculinity.
12. Josh: “I consider myself courageous because I served in the Marine Corps. I rock, I have a mohawk and tattoos, I swear a lot ... and that's all that comes to my mind right now.
