Contrary to tradition: the bride arrived at the wedding in a black dress
Sophie Cachia from Australia decided to come to her wedding not in a traditional white outfit, but in an elegant black dress, asking her girlfriends to also adhere to this color palette. It's not about outrage or protest — it's just that Sophie wanted to do exactly that, and she decided not to look back at someone else's opinion.

"I just don't see myself in a white dress."
Sophie made the sketch for her wedding dress herself. "I just don't see myself in a white dress, and I've never imagined myself in white at a wedding." Her fiance Jared wore a burgundy jacket and black leather pants to the ceremony. "Somehow we didn't really care about observing all these traditions. Traditions are not for us."

"First of all, I want to explain that my black dress is not an opposition to the "white dress of a virgin bride." And then, considering my one-and-a-half-year-old son, in my opinion, it's already obvious that my boat has long since sailed away. Traditions were good for previous generations, but now the white color cannot symbolize innocence and therefore is not mandatory. If only virgins wore a white dress today, wedding dresses would be the most colorful of all existing ones."

Instead of a traditional cake and a big feast, Sophie and Jared ordered pizza and paella for the wedding, which they fed the guests. "If I cared about what others think, I certainly wouldn't have decided on all this. But this wedding is for Jared and me, not for other people."
