Chilling horror in the works of the master of horror-surrealism Anton Semenov
Someone draws happy children, someone cats and puppies, and the artist from Siberia Anton Semenov - creepy humanoid creatures. They are busy with their incomprehensible affairs, smile at their terrible thoughts and just look at us with hatred, interest or indifference. After viewing Anton's works, I want to get under the covers and sleep with the light on. Probably, this is the real skill - to make others believe in what was born in your imagination.
Anton Semenov's name may be unknown to you, but you've probably seen his work as an illustrator. He designed album covers of such famous bands as "Aria", "Slot" and "Nuki", and his paintings are very fond of posting on the Internet as memes about hopelessness.
Semenov's works resemble paintings by the Polish artist Zdzislaw Beksinski, but the Russian horror master has his own, individual style. It is impossible to confuse the works of a Pole and a Russian — Anton's paintings are distinguished by surprisingly accurate detailing and great attention to textures and colors. Therefore, Semenov's characters look much more realistic and therefore frighten more.
Anton says that his work was influenced by such masters of painting as Vrubel, Dali, Picasso, Goya. In search of "his" technique, he tried ink, pencils, pastels and oil, and since 2007 he has been working on a computer. At the same time, Semenov claims that his search is not over and he continues to experiment and try new things until now.
