Cat house: a couple from Brooklyn created the perfect interior for their pets
Happy cat owners know for sure that the owners in their house are cats, and they are just guests. Someone puts cat houses and scratching posts in the rooms, someone orders special furniture for cats, but a married couple from Brooklyn went even further…
An unusual request was made to the New York architectural bureau BFDO Architects by a married couple of philologists from Brooklyn. They wanted to turn their home into a real "cat house".
The happy inhabitants of a spacious three-storey house have always dreamed of a bright and unusual interior, which would comfortably accommodate their extensive home library and art collection, and two inquisitive but timid cats could easily escape from unexpected guests.
So the idea of a bookshelf with many shelves, stretched across the entire wall, was born. The custom-made structure was designed in such a way that cats could easily climb to the very top.
The system of hatches connecting the second and third floors, where animals can sneak unnoticed, gives even greater freedom of movement to the mustachioed owners of the house.
The owners of this extraordinary dwelling are creative people who wanted to find interesting ways to create a comfortable space for living and working with the help of color and light.
There are convenient storage shelves in the walls. In one of them there is a diorama depicting a tiny replica of the master's living room.
The interior of the house is characterized by modernity and lightness.
The upper floor is given over to a workspace: there is a miniature office here, effectively raised above the floor level. From here you can also go to the balcony, which plays the role of a lounge.
Thanks to the unusual furniture, the owners of the house can demonstrate their extensive collection of works of art and books.
The only "cat-free zone" is the lower floor, designed for guests and sports.
