Ben-Bulben — surprisingly beautiful mountain in County Sligo
One of the three most famous mountains of Ireland located in the North-Western part of the country in County Sligo, called Ben-Bulben (Ben Bulben), which translates literally as "caustiously peak". The name of the mountain was due to its unusual shape, because it slopes from afar do something reminiscent of a giant series of almost straight teeth some fabulous giant. This area on the right can add to the list of the most beautiful places of the world.
This kind of rock formation known as "table mountains" — their top like the cut and the slopes are usually very steep.
These mountains are almost entirely composed of a variety of sedimentary rocks, and they are formed in the process of melting glaciers.
No exception and Ben-Bulben — this top with a height of 527 metres was formed 320 million years ago, during the Great glaciation, when crawling blocks of ice literally beheaded her earlier in the shape of the tip.
Climbers do not get tired to conquer Ben Bulben, despite the fact that the ascent to the mountain is not so simple.
It is especially difficult to climb up on the North side, where the slopes are steep and steep, and from the Atlantic ocean is constantly cold winds blow. But those who managed to reach the top, I do not regret about the spent efforts, because of the height of a mountain plateau, it offers a luxurious look.
Today Ben Bulben is a true symbol of the County of Sligo, of course, surrounded by numerous legends. One of them says that there once lived a huge ferocious wild boar that was killed by his own Tusk warrior Diarmuid.
But even if Ben Bulben was an ordinary mountain, it would be no less attractive for travelers — her beauty slopes captivate the heart at first sight.
Gentle slopes, thickets of lush green grass, and at about 300 meters altitude, the mountain begins abruptly, almost vertically to go up — this is the phenomenon of Ben-Ballena. Travelers say that especially beautiful mountain at dawn — but it is better to see once than hear a hundred times!
Anyway, this mountain of unusual shape — a true miracle of nature which is the main attraction Sligo.
