At night they wake up
The author of the project, photographer Vladislav Martyanov, says: “The habitual appearance of the city is completely transformed at night. Buildings, originally created by man for himself and for himself, are dead and motionless during the day. In all their diversity, monumental beauty or utilitarian practicality, being architectural monuments or monotonous rectangular boxes, they are like frozen giants actually sleeping in a concrete shell. Blinded by the sun, stunned and overwhelmed by the masses of people, they dutifully bear the burden of silent service to man. At night, having been freed and cleansed, having lost their contours, washed off their decor, discarded their physical shell, they turn into luminous pulsating chimeras. Having nothing to do with their daily incarnations, they do not remember them. The night is their present time, the time of real life.
