Artist paints to express what it's like to live with bipolar disorder

Artist Sophia Roman has been battling bipolar disorder since she was 16 but was diagnosed at 18. She used to be very scared to talk about her mental health, so expressing her heart and mind through these black and white drawings has become her survival strategy to show what it's like to live with bipolar disorder.

Today she is 25 years old and although she has become more assertive through years of therapy and self-help, there is nothing better than creating these intense pencil sketches… She feels relieved every time she finishes work, but the best part of creating these drawings is to get people interested in bipolar disorder. We think these cool drawings are a great way to help end the stigma and discrimination against mental disorders as much as possible.
