Alexandra Manukyan's Surrealism – the inner world splashed out on the canvas
The paintings of the American artist Alexandra Manukyan are always bright and filled with the most incredible images. Naked or dressed in fantastic outfits, men and women, exotic plants and extraterrestrial entourage hypnotize viewers and make them return to some works again and again. If you got acquainted with the work of Alexandra, you will never confuse her paintings with others. Isn't this a real magical gift?
Alexandra Manukyan was born in Armenia in 1963. She graduated from high school in Yerevan and entered the Art School named after P. Terlemezyan. Then there was Yerevan State University, where Manukyan received the profession of a teacher of fine arts.
In 1990, Alexandra emigrated to the United States. There she continued her studies and graduated from the Los Angeles College of Commerce and Technology and the American Academy of Fine Arts. Manukyan mastered various professions and specialties, but at the same time she always continued to paint.
Currently, the artist is engaged in business – she has her own advertising agency and art school studio. From time to time Manukyan organizes solo exhibitions in different states of the USA and abroad. The artist's style is difficult to describe with the existing terminology, but it can be called figurative, erotic painting with elements of surrealism.
Alexandra Manukyan's fantasy has no boundaries, and the characters of her canvases are lively and emotional. The artist says that her paintings are a reflection of the inner world and it can be very different.
Sometimes I want to classify the author as hyperrealists, but the plots of works that have nothing to do with the real world do not allow this to be done. Wherever the artist's paintings appear, they always attract attention and raise a lot of questions.
