A synagogue or a mistress? What was and could be the manager of the "Diamond Hand"
The manager is a friend of a person! The heroine of Nonna Mordyukova-the manager Ivy was remembered by all the viewers of the film "The Diamond Hand" without exception. But did you know that this expressive character was not only censored, but could also be played by a completely different actress. Film expert Vitaly Dubogrei, aka dubikvit, reveals the secrets of his favorite movie.
It's no secret that the famous phrase "And I won't be surprised if tomorrow it turns out that your husband is secretly visiting a mistress" in the film "The Diamond Hand" originally sounded different — there was a synagogue instead of a mistress. But, probably, not everyone saw this phrase in its original form. But this version of the voice acting has been preserved. And it is clear from the articulation that this is not a story, that, indeed, "synagogue" was pronounced in the original voice-over. Here is this fragment:
It is not known how true this is, but they say that Nona Mordyukova refused to re-sound this fragment, and for the second option, with a mistress, they had to call a parodist.
And why was the fragment re-played? Gaidai told the following about this. The higher authorities, having looked at the picture, said: "Here you have raised the Jewish question, but you have not solved it in any way." The director was perplexed — this is a joke. And after a long explanation of the director that he did not even think to touch on the Jewish problem, the authorities suggested: "Well, at least say: "Secret house of visits"." "I know that there are synagogues in our country," Gaidai said — " but I haven't heard anything about secret meeting houses." In the end, the synagogue was replaced with a mistress.
In general, at the art councils that discussed the working material of the comedy, they repeatedly proposed to reduce the role of Mordyukova, or even completely reduce it to nothing. Fortunately, it was not possible. Screenwriter Yakov Kostyukovsky believes that for him, as a satirical writer, this character is his main success. Later, many members of the artistic council agreed that the image of the manager Varvara Sergeevna Ivy performed by Nonna Mordyukova is almost the most successful in the film.
And what quotes from her mouth have gone to the people!
But initially, of all the actresses who tried out for the role of the manager, it was Nonna Viktorovna who liked Gaidai the least. He knew her exclusively as a dramatic actress. But he discovered in her the brightest comedic gift after the role of a merchant's wife in"The Marriage of Balzaminov". Gaidai's wife, Nina Grebeshkova, wanted to try on this role. But here the director was adamant — he saw Varvara Sergeevna quite differently, and left the role of the main character's wife to his wife.
Who else auditioned for the role? At least three actresses-Iya Savvina, Lyudmila Shagalova, Nina Agapova. They say that Klara Luchko also auditioned (in parallel with the role of the seductress Anna Sergeevna). However, only Shagalova and Agapova managed to find photo tests
But Gaidai, nevertheless, chose Mordyukova. And as a result, Nonna Viktorovna became the soul of the team.
