A stranger saved the life of a girl with lupus by giving her part of his liver
Miracles happen, and the story of 19-year-old Madison Ricci from Connecticut is a confirmation of this. The girl was diagnosed with lupus when she was 12 years old. Because of the disease, her liver began to scar, and doctors said that the only chance of salvation would be a transplant of part of the organ from a living donor. 22-year-old Jaelin Highsmith saw a post asking for Madison's help posted by her parents on Facebook. The guy decided to save the girl and came up for the role of a donor. The young people did not meet either before or after the operation, and they met for the first time only recently.
Read a story that will not leave anyone indifferent in our material.
Madison Ricci, 19, from Hamden, Connecticut, found out about her illness when she turned 12. Despite numerous examinations and procedures, her condition has deteriorated so much that doctors have declared a threat to her life if she does not undergo liver transplantation.
The student's parents, Kristin and Todd, posted a post asking for help on Facebook. They wanted to find a donor who would save their daughter. Jelin Highsmith from the neighboring town of Meriden saw the post and, despite the fact that he had never met Ricci before, decided to undergo an examination to find out if he was suitable for the role of a donor. After four months of tests and tests, it turned out that the guy was suitable for a liver transplant, and in December 2018, a transplant operation was performed, which lasted 22.5 hours. Jelin and Madison had been communicating for six months, exchanging messages, but never met in person. It was only this week that the young people finally saw each other. The meeting took place at the girl's house. Grateful for saving her life, the student could not hold back tears and was very glad that she was able to hug her benefactor. The guy was also glad to have the opportunity to meet Ricci. The stranger reached out a helping hand and pulled Madison out of the clutches of death. Generosity and compassion are things that, unfortunately, are not often found in our world. In order to become a real hero, it is not necessary to fight against all the evil of the world: it is enough just to sacrifice yourself in the name of saving another.
