A selected burden from the Guinness Book of Records

Once upon a time, mobile phones were used to make calls and send SMS. For the most part, they slept peacefully in their pockets. But now they only dream of peace. We fiddle with smartphones nonstop until the battery indicator blinks red. And then we look for an outlet: there are still so many interesting things left on the Internet. The battery capacity unexpectedly turned into almost the main virtue of a good phone. The whole day of work without recharging is top.

But here we are forced to interrupt the narration: sarcastic laughter is heard. This is the owners of the BQ-5059 Strike Power giggling. For them, one day away from the charger is not a top, but baby talk. With an extremely affordable price and all the necessary gadgets for a modern smartphone, this device is able to dig social networks with its nose for three days! To make it easier for you to realize the scale, we searched through the archive of the Guinness Book of Records in search of events that lasted a very long time, but still could not surpass BQ Strike Power.

The Stumbling Block grid

On June 22, 2010, tennis players John Isner and Nicolas Mayu started the first round match of the Wimbledon tournament. After four sets were played with the score 2:2, the meeting was suspended due to the onset of darkness. This is, in principle, quite a common practice. But for the match to be played in three days, the guys became pioneers in this.

The fact is that at Grand Slam tournaments, the decisive fifth set does not end with a tie-break, but is conducted up to a two-point advantage in games and theoretically can last indefinitely. On June 23, Isner and Mayu hacked for more than seven hours, but did not reveal the strongest when the sun disappeared below the horizon. The world record for the duration of a tennis match was set three and a half hours before the poor guys went to rest again, winning 59 games of the fifth set. On the 24th, they played for another hour and a half until Isner finally took over — 70:68. In the next round, the American lost 0:3 in 72 minutes and was eliminated from the tournament.

Without feelings or a real feeling?

In the world-famous city of Pattaya, four years ago, a local security officer Ekkahai Tiranarat kissed his wife Laksana for 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds. Such accuracy of measurements is due to the fact that this act was not too intimate: it took place as part of a competition to set a world record. As a result, the lovers surpassed the previous achievement by more than eight hours.

During the competition, the participants of this theater of the absurd had no right to be interrupted for a second. They had to drink and eat through a straw. As a reward, Ekkahai and Laxana received two diamond rings and one hundred thousand baht (approximately $ 3,300). With this money, by the way, you can buy 28 BQ Strike Power phones.

Do men need to use cosmetics?

In March 2012, previously unknown Latvians Tatiana Fedorova and Leonid Romanov studied each other inside and out. It would be strange if it didn't work out for them during a phone conversation 54 hours and 4 minutes long. They, like the lip-hungry Thais, agreed to take part in the competition for the right to be on the pages of the Book of Records.

The conditions of this event were quite demanding. You can only talk about previously stated and agreed topics, and in exactly the order in which they were stated. When the list of declared topics ran out, it was necessary to discuss the last of them until the record was repeated. A pause of ten seconds meant elimination. The 133rd topic that Tatiana and Leonid ended their communication with was the topical question of whether men need to use cosmetics.

The worst way to kill time

The aforementioned dialogue is an extremely useful activity in comparison with watching a movie called "The Longest Most Meaningless Movie in the World" (The Longest Most Meaningless Movie in the World). This movie man's nightmare, filmed in 1968 by director Anthony Scott, lasts 2880 minutes. And it is a gluing of commercials, excerpts from films that have not been released, and other cinematic garbage. Sometimes the picture turns upside down or the action moves backwards. In 1987, something called "The Cure for Insomnia" came out. It lasts almost one and a half times longer, but it cannot be called a film: the actor reads some nonsense on a piece of paper for three and a half days.

Stroke, another stroke

American Walter Pinish Sr. from Oklahoma has worked as a fitness trainer for most of his life and has never been listed as a professional athlete. That did not prevent him from swimming the distance from the Cuban capital Havana to the town of Little Duck Key in Florida in July 1973. And this, by the way, is 207.3 kilometers. Walter sailed for 34 hours and 15 minutes. Journalists met him on the shore and treated him to hot tea. Walter told them he was tired.
