A Harry Potter-style wedding: owls, a castle and magic wands
Cindy is a calligrapher and interface designer, and Matthew is a supervisor. The young people met and started dating while studying at the University of California. Six years later, while hiking in Central California, Matthew got down on his knees and proposed to Cindy, holding a flower picked along the way.
Cindy is a passionate fan of Harry Potter, and she really wanted to celebrate the wedding in the spirit of the magical universe. Matt agreed, even though he hadn't read any of the books in the series before the ceremony. However, he liked the holiday so much that after the happy husband read them all.
To create the right mood, Cindy began to prepare the situation ten months before the wedding. On February 20, 2016, the couple got married — and it turned out really magically.

Cindy herself drew a wedding invitation based on the "Marauder Card" — with the signature: "I solemnly swear that I am plotting a prank and only a prank."
It's not easy to find a building in Los Angeles that resembles a British castle. But the newlyweds managed it: the stone walls of Hollywood Castle, overgrown with greenery, provided the guests with the impression that they were in Hogwarts.
The venue of the ceremony was decorated with books and candles.
Each of the 97 guests was waiting for a personal magic wand.
The bride also made the sticks: she glued beads and small bells to the chopsticks, covered them with paint, and added a note from Mr. Ollivander: "A spell of love and joy that works all night."
After the ceremony, the sticks came in handy in order to see off the couple.
In private, the bride and groom exchanged solemn vows.
Some of the guests came in themed outfits.
One of Cindy's colleagues actually arrived with a stuffed owl Hedwig.
And the bride's friends were dressed in black suits with wine-colored details.
Cindy: "We were both worried that no one would want to have fun in a formal wizard costume, but it turned out that we have the best friends: many of them came in magician costumes." These guests dressed up in wigs and fur capes reminiscent of animagus wolves.
Instead of a little girl with flowers, the couple's dog, Millie, walked down the aisle.
The guests were treated to the best potions from the Sweet Kingdom confectionery.
Perhaps many of them had their first dinner in such a magical setting.
Advice and love.
