A friend among strangers: how to cheer for your national team if there are only rival fans around
It's easy to root for your favorite team surrounded by hundreds of like-minded people. It is much more difficult to be happy about a victory or sad about a defeat when there are only rival fans around. But if you truly believe and love the team with all your heart, then you will be sick "in the camp of the enemy" as if for the last time.
An unknown fan of the England national team proved to everyone that he is a loyal and brave fan. He found himself in a Moscow bar in the company of fans of the Colombian national team. But such an environment did not prevent the Englishman from completely giving himself up to worries for his team.
The desperate fan was even captured on video. When, after a penalty shootout, the match ended with the victory of the England national team, a brave fan shouted with joy. At first, the Colombian fans were even taken aback, but after a few seconds they gathered and began to shout in chorus: "Colombia!" But the English fan was not confused by such unanimity of rivals, he continued to rejoice in the victory of his national team, for which he even received a push from one Colombian. But in general, everything ended peacefully, a brave fan even hugged one of the Colombian fans.
Meanwhile, the opposite story happened in England. In a suburb in east London, a whole family from Colombia found themselves surrounded by English fans. Their yellow-blue-red flag was beating out of the sea of red-and-white English flags that the neighbors of the Ramos family had hung out.
The Ramoses said that their neighbors invited them to watch the match in the courtyard on a big screen. The family even promised that they would dance salsa and bachata if their national team won. But, unfortunately, despite such support, the England team reached the quarterfinals.
