A deaf guy was moved to tears after learning that residents of his neighborhood had learned sign language to talk to him
One day, a deaf young guy from Istanbul named Muharrem came out of the house and found that everyone he encounters on the street knows sign language. Soon his surprise was replaced by total bewilderment, since everything that was happening was very similar to a miracle. Such a "miracle" became possible thanks to the cooperation of Samsung and the advertising agency Leo Burnett, who taught sign language to residents of the area where Muharrem lives for a whole month.
1. For a whole month, residents of the area where Muharrem lives studied sign language.
2. This flash mob was part of the advertising campaign of the Turkish branch of Samsung and was dedicated to the opening of a call center to support deaf and hard of hearing people in Turkey.
3. Hidden cameras were placed along the entire route of Muharrem's walk.
4. One of the main figures of the touching surprise was Muharrem's sister named Ezlem, who took him for a planned walk.
5. The first pleasant surprise was a man who greeted the young man with a gesture meaning "Good morning".
6. Then the guy was surprised by a salesman at a local bakery store, who offered him bagels in sign language.
7. Near the grocery store, the buyer intentionally scattered fruit.
8. And after the help he received, he thanked the young people and offered them an apple in sign language as a thank you.
9. Muharrem didn't understand what was going on at all: "Is he deaf?"
10. Then they got into a taxi, where the driver also communicated with them in sign language.
11. Here Muharrem was covered by a wave of total bewilderment…
12. The closer the young people came to the main square, the closer the flash mob came to its logical end. Through a large advertising display, the girl, again in sign language, explained to Muharrem what was happening.
13. The neighbors and the film crew surrounded Muharrem, revealing all the cards.
14. The guy just couldn't contain his feelings.
15. It was such a great act of attention and care that Muharrem was moved to tears.
16. The motto of this campaign sounds like "A world without barriers is our dream": barriers mean difficulties in communication between deaf and hearing people.
17. This is especially important for those who face these barriers every day.
