10 provocative movie scenes that give you goosebumps
Art should bring the viewer to emotions, and it does not matter at all what methods the creator resorts to. Sometimes directors rely on the shock effect: because of this, their films experience a whole range of feelings - from deep delight to regret and even disgust.

1. Irreversibility
The premiere of "Irreversible" turned out to be both a success and a curse for Gaspard Noe. The audience cried, ran out of the hall, and got angry at the director. Someone saw on the screen a pure provocation, and someone saw a deeply philosophical story. The most frightening moment of the film was the scene of rape in the tunnel of the heroine Monica Bellucci. Due to the static nature of the camera, there is an unpleasant feeling of "documentation" of what is happening.
2. Clockwork orange
About 10 minutes into Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, Alex DeLarge and his gang go to the writer's house, where they attack his wife. This scene has become one of the most frightening and disturbing in the history of cinema. Religious representatives in the US were banned from watching the tape, and in the UK, the film adaptation spawned a wave of "copycat violence." Kubrick had to withdraw the film from distribution.
3. Eyes wide shut
Stanley Kubrick's latest film is the erotic thriller Eyes Wide Shut. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman ventured into the most controversial images of their careers, and the audience was treated to a shocking mass orgy scene.
4. Last Tango in Paris
The tape “Last Tango in Paris” shocked even the critics. Despite the restrictions at the box office, Bernardo Bertolucci received an impressive box office, nominations for cult awards, and ... condemnation. The director shot the episode of the rape of the heroine Maria Schneider too realistically for a feature film. As the actress later admits, Marlon Brando and Bertolucci actually turned the shooting into torture.
5. Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is constantly controversial, but the scene that caused the most outrage can be found in the fifth season. Ramsay Bolton treats Sansa Stark brutally on their wedding night. The audience did not like the excessive cruelty of the script and the focus on male suffering (you have to watch the scene from Theon Greyjoy, and not the heroine herself).
6. The basic Instinct
The scene of interrogation of the heroine Sharon Stone became the “highlight” of the entire film. According to the actress, the director, and film crew asked her to shoot this episode “just in case” and assured her that it would not be included in the final version of the film. However, Paul Verhoeven did not keep his promise - and pulled Stone into the loudest scandal in the history of cinema.
7. Black Swan
Many critics and viewers felt that the erotic scene featuring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis was superfluous in Black Swan. You can see a certain subtext in it, but in fact, Darren Aronofsky promised the audience a frank fragment in order to increase interest in the upcoming premiere. When the audience saw the result, they remained at a loss: the director conveyed the love scene too colorfully and intensely.
8. Andrey Rublev
Soviet cinema had its own methods of provocation. So, the epic of Andrei Tarkovsky about the life of the icon painter Andrei Rublev is simply replete with ambiguous moments. For example, when ordinary people “go crazy” on the night of Ivan Kupala, and after that one of the girls tries to seduce the hero himself. These episodes remained in the history of Russian cinema as the most massive erotic scenes.
