Apple has announced new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models based on Apple Silicon. The latest MacBook Pro 14 and 16 are a huge upgrade from previous models, filled with new and improved features, including the first M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. 1. Liquid Display XDR uses mini LED display technology to achieve an incredible 1600 nits peak brightness in HDR content. It's brighter than most home TVs.
2. ProMotion technology is used in MacBook 14 and 16 with a 120 Hz display refresh rate. This will provide smoother scrolling and animation for day-to-day use.
3. M1 Pro offers up to 10 CPU cores, 16 GPU cores, and 32GB of unified memory. The M1 Max can double that number to 32 GPU cores and 64GB of storage. Apple claims performance is on par with the fastest laptop PCs.
4. Increased efficiency means a significant increase in battery life. Apple claims up to 17 hours of video playback on the MacBook Pro 14 and up to 21 hours on the MacBook Pro 16.
5. The touchpad is gone, replaced by a new Magic Keyboard with a row of mechanical keys and a wider exit key.
6. MagSafe is back! MacBook Pro 14 and 16 have a MagSafe power connector that attaches with a nice magnetic click. Laptops also support Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C charging.
7. Both new MacBooks have a six-speaker sound system with improved bass. It will provide the loudest and fullest sound on any MacBook. Apple spatial audio and Dolby Atmos are supported.
8. Powerful and reliable connectivity is provided by three Thunderbolt 4 ports, which also support USB-C. Each port supports charging, display output, audio, and data transmission.
9. Apple has returned support for full-size HDMI and SD cards, which photographers will surely love. Remains a 3.5 mm audio jack.
