At the same time, the mentor is so zealous that the question arises about his sanity. Both very simple and very intricate insults are used. In this stream of virtuoso abuse, even "stupid" and "freak" sound like compliments. Why do sergeants shout at young soldiers and humiliate them at every opportunity?
It's worth saying right away that screaming sergeants are characteristic of the US Marine Corps. In other branches of the armed forces, although they are not gifts, they still behave much more correctly. Shouting and swearing is an integral part of the service of the so-called "Drill instructor" or "Drill Instructor" of Marines.
The word drill is translated from English not only as "training", but also as "drilling", "deepening", "drill", "drill". But at the same time, the "Drill instructor" is just an instructor, but a person drilling his brain with his cry. In the Marine Corps, the duties of this instructor include teaching recruits the basics of army life. The duration of training depends on many factors and can range from 8 to 13 weeks.
In the course of training, drill sergeants are engaged with young soldiers not only in drill. They are universal mentors in everything from discipline to fire and tactical training. Constant shouting is not a whim of the sergeant and not a sign of his inadequacy. The instructor is simply obliged to shout and swear in order to keep the wards in a state of deep psychological discomfort.
A novice is forbidden to look into the sergeant's eyes and touch him. It is allowed to answer questions only by adding "sir" or "ma'am" (yes, there are a lot of "Drill instructor" and women). The recruit must feel that he is a "lower form of life" and his fate is in the hands of the mentor. But at the same time, in real life, physical assault, which is so popular to show in movies about the army, is strictly prohibited.
Soldiers are shouted at for a reason, but when they carry out an order. The task of the instructor is to demoralize the beginner, make him lose his head and give up. The recruit must carry out the order no matter what and cope with both distractions and stress with honor. If he can't control himself just under the influence of psychological pressure from the sergeant, then what will happen if there is a fight going on around and shells are exploding?
One of the most popular exercises for Marines is to perform drill techniques with weapons when 2-4 sergeants are standing and yelling in front of them. In such an environment, it is incredibly difficult to gather your thoughts and correctly complete the task. Yes, not all recruits can withstand such tests, but it should be borne in mind that they are all in the Marine Corps voluntarily, and they knew what they were going for.
