Artificial intelligence, neural network and data collected for iNaturalist during wildlife observations help in this.
The user is provided with lists of insects, plants and animals that are most often registered in his area. When he uploads a new photo, artificial intelligence analyzes the image and looks for similarities with existing ones.
Having determined the type of plant, animal or insect, the application adds it to the user's collection and shows him the help from Wikipedia.
Now there are about 30 thousand species of plants, birds and animals in the database, and their number will grow. iNaturalist co - founder Scott Loari explained: "The only way to improve our species modeling is to get more data, and for that we need more people to take pictures in nature."
