The 43-year-old American woman lives in Portland and works as a store manager that sells antiques and vintage fashion items.

She was born after her mother Svetlana Alliluyeva, Stalin's own daughter, married a US citizen in 1970 and took the name Lana Peters.

The youngest daughter was named Olga Peters at birth.

Chris spoke in an interview about her attitude to the surname Stalin: “Stalin is not a surname, but a Bolshevik pseudonym. My family is Dzhugashvili, Russians with Georgian roots. It seems to me that I inherited from them a certain feeling of sadness, Russian melancholy.

“If you put aside history books, truth, lies, controversy, I would say that the cruelty of grandparents towards their children hurt me the most. Although I do not have children, it seems to me that parents are obliged to take care of their offspring and think about their future.

Svetlana Alliluyeva died in 2011 in a US nursing home at the age of 85. Chris Evans then told reporters that her mother was the only member of her family. “The past cannot be changed. I have always understood that my task in this world is to take care of my mother and love her, no matter what, so that old age can heal the wounds inflicted in childhood.
