Water-water, wash my face: bathing a baby orangutan

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/water-water-wash-my-face-bathing-a-baby-orangutan.htmlThis baby is taking a bath at the Indonesian Orangutan Rescue Centre. Like all babies, he seems to be crazy about bubbles - and doesn't really like it when they are washed off. The center cares for approximately 300 orangutans, ranging from monkeys confiscated from private owners to injured wild animals.
In the wild, orangutan babies do not part with their mother until at least 8-9 years old. Here, the mother of orphaned monkeys is replaced by employees of the center - it turns out to be a kind of foster mother who takes care of the baby. Specialists not only care for orangutan cubs, but also teach them life skills that will be useful to animals when they are released into the wild. The crumbs, in particular, are taught to build nests in trees, find food for themselves and make their way through the forest canopy.
