The journalist of the Australian edition of ABC Flip Prior (Flip Prior) decided to conduct an exciting experiment and give up alcohol for a whole year. Already in the first 30 days, the girl realized what a real hell is: Flip seemed to be haunted by temptations and temptations. However, the result was worth it!
How the life of a journalist has changed in just a month without alcohol, read below.
The journalist Flip Pryor never considered herself a drunkard, but one day, returning home after a stormy party, the girl wondered: what if, in fact, it is? Flip spent the whole day piecing herself together, slept well, took a bath several times. Only after that, her health improved a little, and the memories of the cheap proseco she had drunk the day before faded into the background.
Gathering her thoughts, Flip decided that she needed to take a break from drinking alcohol. Yes, it's fun, but the headache in the morning, nausea, weakness and other symptoms of a hangover are not worth it… To get rid of a bad habit, the girl first turned to a narcologist, who helped to assess the condition of the body.
At the first appointment, the doctor took tests from Flip and asked her to record the amount of alcohol consumed on paper in the following days. When the journalist came the next time with the recorded data, the doctor explained that she had a mild alcohol addiction. However, the girl herself learned a lot thanks to this technique:
After visiting the doctor and recognizing the problem, Flip began to struggle with it. The girl threw herself a bold challenge: not to drink a drop of alcohol during this year. In order not to go astray and make this task easier for herself, the journalist even signed up for online courses on giving up drinking.
All her life, the girl was convinced that alcohol helps to get rid of stress. But after carefully studying the results of numerous studies on this topic, Flip realized that alcohol leads to hangovers, headaches, shame and regret, and this in turn causes stress.
At the second stage of giving up alcohol, the girl decided to find groups in social networks with other people struggling with addiction.
Two weeks after the start of the experiment, Flip had already stopped feeling the need for the support of others. The girl was no longer attracted to alcohol, although there were many temptations around. In the first days she had to restrain her desire to drink with friends in a bar, at first it was very annoying, but then the journalist felt relieved.
The first month of the experiment brought Flip only positive results. The girl will continue to fight further. Her goal is not to drink for another 11 months. She is sure that thanks to this, 2019 will be one of the most memorable in her life.
And how do you feel about alcohol? Would you decide on such an experiment?
