During a business trip to Kangaroo Island (South Australia), engulfed by wildfires, she was fooled by an Australian film crew. The British woman was persuaded to put on protective gear to pick up the most "dangerous beast" on the planet.
When a journalist from Scotland was filming in the company of local colleagues Sean Mulcahy and Garnett Hall, they told her that in Australia there is a subspecies of koalas that are particularly aggressive and attack people by jumping on them from a tree. In addition, these creatures are also poisonous.
The gullible British woman was convinced that the best way to survive contact with such a dangerous beast is to protect herself 100% and put on protective gear.
According to the men, the animal that Debi will hold in her hands is a baby "jumping bear". He allegedly got this name because he jumped on people from trees.
The journalist was told that "jumping bears" are dangerous guys. They are bigger than ordinary koalas, their claws are longer, they have small poisonous fangs, which, of course, are not as dangerous as snakes, but still their venom causes irritation on the skin.
The journalist approached the meeting with the "jumping bear" very responsibly. Debi put on an armored suit: the woman was put on body protection for motocross, glasses, gloves and a pair of special boots.
Fortunately, she did not need them — the "poisonous" marsupial animal did not show any aggression. After all, it was an ordinary koala, a calm herbivore.
Eventually realizing that it's all a hoax, Debi jokingly swears:
The jokers explained their idea simply — they didn't want to mock. Residents of the Green Continent have been arranging pranks for tourists for many decades with the help of different versions of "falling bears" with poisonous claws and teeth.
Well, so that Debi's suffering is not in vain, everyone is offered to donate money to help koalas. Not jumping, but the most ordinary and very cute!
