The artist from Peru Johnny Palacios Hidalgo and his erotic surrealismPictolic
The Peruvian surrealist artist Johnny Palacios Hidalgo is a real singer of female beauty. This is not quite typical for surrealism, but Hidalgo perfectly manages to combine restrained eroticism and fantastic images filled with hidden meaning.
Johnny Palacios Hidalgo was born in 1970 in the capital of Peru, Lima. He started drawing very early, and in his school years he already surprised his peers and adults with his masterfully executed pencil drawings and watercolors. It is quite expected that Hidalgo decided to go on a creative path and after receiving a certificate of maturity entered the art courses at the National Museum in Lima.
After completing the courses, Johnny entered the National School of Fine Arts, where he finally chose his technique and style. He began to paint in oils, preferring first hyperrealism, and then, gradually, moved to surrealism. Many critics of Hidalgo claim that too much is taken from Salvador Dali in his work, but Johnny does not hide that the great Spaniard has been inspiring him for many years and is not at all ashamed of it.
Despite some similarities between the paintings of the Peruvian artist and the works of the master of surrealism, Hidalgo has his own unique style, which is easily read even by inexperienced viewers in art. In the paintings of Johnny Palacios Hidalgo, realistic and often sexy female images are inscribed in a surreal environment.
