It was founded on October 3, 1958 by jazz musician, saxophonist Jimmy Lyons.
The festival is held annually in Monterey County on an 8-acre site on the third full weekend of September, starting on Friday. Five hundred of the best jazz artists perform on nine stages scattered throughout the territory, with a total of approximately 50 concert performances.
In addition, the Monterey Jazz Festival offers you to participate in conversations about jazz, panel discussions, seminars, exhibitions, and just have a good rest and have a holiday.
