1. Nobuyoshi Araki was born in Tokyo in 1940, becoming the fifth child of seven in the family. He received his first camera as a gift from his father at the age of 12, and inherited his passion for photography from him. At university, he studied the art of photography and cinematography, and then got a job as a photographer at the Dentsu advertising agency, where he met his future wife Yoko Aoki. In 1971, the newlyweds went on a honeymoon, during which Araki became interested in intimate photography. Upon his return, he published the book "Sentimental Journey" and since then prefers the genre of "personal" photography.
