Once upon a time, when there was not only the Internet, but also video recorders, people went to watch porn in cinemas. It goes without saying that fans of "strawberry" had to be notified about the premieres of adult films and for this artists created posters.

When creating posters for pornographic films, designers and artists faced serious problems. Firstly, they needed to attract the attention of the viewer, and secondly, to observe decency — after all, their products were exhibited on the streets. Children and prim old men walked past the stands inviting to adult sessions, who did not need to see overly explicit images.

In addition, in all cities of Europe and the USA, where porn was shown in cinemas, there were laws prohibiting the public demonstration of eroticism and porn. All these factors have caused the appearance of almost chaste posters advertising the most outspoken film products.

Most posters of porn films of the 60s and 70s are more like advertising posters of adventure films, thrillers, dramas or youth comedies. The names of the paintings were quite allegorical, as well as brief annotations on the posters. But connoisseurs of the genre knew perfectly well what was what, and the names of the actors, the name of the studios and hints between the lines said more than a commercial can tell today.
