The famous sports brand Nike was accused of insulting the feelings of Muslims after the release of the new Air Max 270 sneakers. Islamic religious activists saw the word "Allah" in Arabic spelling in the logo of "Ai Max" and now categorically demand to stop selling these shoes.

Activist Saiqa Noreen from the UK was the first to notice blasphemy on sneakers. The woman, without wasting time, immediately created a petition on the website Change.org , in which he collects signatures demanding to stop selling Nike Air Max 270 sneakers worldwide.

The Muslim woman justified her claim by the fact that an inscription similar to the word "Allah" is placed on the sole of the product and will inevitably be trampled underfoot when walking, as well as contact with dirt and sewage. In this regard, in her opinion, it is necessary "to immediately withdraw blasphemous shoes and other similar products, the logo on which resembles the word "Allah", from world sales."

The first two weeks after the publication of the petition was not very popular — it was signed by less than 5 thousand people. But after the news about Saika Norin's initiative got into the media, the number of those who approved the message increased by several thousand in a little more than a day. At the moment, the number of signatures has exceeded 9 thousand and continues to grow.

Nike, in turn, responded to the protest by commenting on the situation to Hypebeast:

The company's management did not assume any obligations and refrained from further comments. In fact, do not withdraw from sale the mega popular model of Air Max 270 sneakers, which have been on sale since the beginning of 2018 and already have a whole army of fans around the world.

The case of the Air Max 270 sneakers is not the first in the history of the company. A similar delusional situation arose in 1997, when Muslims saw the word "Allah" on Air Melt, Air Grill, Air B-Que and Air Bakin sneakers. Then the activists managed to put the squeeze on the manufacturer and, at their request, 38 thousand pairs of shoes from branded stores in different countries were withdrawn from sale. In addition, the manufacturer donated 50 thousand dollars for the construction of a sports ground for one of the Muslim schools in the United States.
