In the bedrooms of New York ballerinas

On stage and in the spotlight, ballerinas embody the ideal, grace, they are as focused as possible, their movements are precise and easy. During the dance, they give out a huge amount of energy and emotion in their movements, revealing to us the story and character of the character. However, at home, in their bedrooms, ballerinas are completely different.

Photographer of the Huffington Post Damon Dahlen has been shooting ballerinas for six months in the most, perhaps, intimate place for every person — in the bedroom. Girls live in New York and dance at the American Ballet Theater and the Dance Theater of Harlem.

Without their suits and pointe shoes, women appear in a completely different light, revealing exactly what makes the bedroom an inviolable refuge.

Ingrid Silva, Harlem Dance Theater. Originally from Brazil, he now lives with a French bulldog in a one-bedroom apartment. She describes her room as a place where she can think, relax, sleep, and sometimes even have a snack and work.

Cassandra Treneri, soloist at the American Ballet Theater. Lives with her husband, also a dancer. Describes the bedroom as a cozy, simple room with a bit of a rustic feel.

Elina Miettinen, Corps de Ballet, American Ballet Theater. Elina was born in She has lived in Finland for many years, and now lives with her husband and dog in an apartment in Manhattan. Describes his bedroom as a refined, modern and romantic room.

Since Ebony often falls asleep on a comfortable sofa, Dahlen rented her in the living room, which she described as a colorful women's room.

Zongjing Fang, Corps de Ballet, American Ballet Theater. She came from Shanghai and now lives in a studio apartment in Manhattan. He considers his bedroom fabulous, comfortable, allowing you to relax.

Danielle Schultz, a dancer at the Metropolitan Opera. Rents an apartment with neighbors in Brooklyn, describes his bedroom as a bright, neat room, equipped according to Feng shui.

Rebecca Letch. Born in Singapore, she now lives with her husband and dog in Brooklyn in a spacious apartment. Describes his bedroom as a modern and warm room.

Elis King, dancer at The Works and Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company. Grew up in Indiana, rents an apartment with several neighbors. She considers her bedroom spacious and speaks about her character.
