Finnish animal rights activists from the organization Oikeutta Eläimille sneaked into the territory of a fur farm in the province of Ostrobothnia in western Finland. They conducted a hidden shooting in the aviaries where they keep arctic foxes and polar foxes. These shots are frightening: after all, it is difficult to recognize chanterelles in these monster creatures, which are usually three to five times smaller.

To get more valuable fur from each individual, Finnish businessmen feed poor animals to gigantic sizes. If in the wild the weight of one arctic fox is about 3.5-5 kg, then the hostages of a fur farm are fattened up to almost 20 kg. Animals literally have fat swimming in their eyes.

The unfortunate animals have difficulty moving around in cramped cages. To achieve such gigantic sizes, the farm used cross-breeding by genetic selection of large individuals. At the same time, to increase the growth rate of arctic foxes, they are specially fattened with highly nutritious food.

Finland is the leader in Europe in the market of arctic fox fur production, only Chinese farms grow more of these animals. In 2014, more than 1.8 million foxes were killed in Finland. Usually, it takes from 10 to 20 skins of "normal" foxes to make one fur coat.
