Exciting photos of Claudia Schiffer, chosen by herself for a new bookBy Pictolic https://pictolic.com/en/article/exciting-photos-of-claudia-schiffer-chosen-by-herself-for-a-new-book
In October, the book Claudia Schiffer by Schiffer, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the career of the German supermodel, was published. As you can guess from the name, Claudia herself talks about the iconic moments of her life, from a fateful meeting with a modeling agent in a Dusseldorf club to signing a multimillion-dollar contract with Chanel. The German woman selected the photos for the book on her own. Among them there are a lot of very frank, provocative pictures published once in the best glossy publications.
"Do you think it's easy to choose the right picture? — says Schiffer. — It's incredibly difficult, because I have a lot of them (during her career, Claudia has starred for more than a thousand magazine covers. — Editor's note). Every frame that is included in the book is a part of my story that I wanted to share."
The book turned out to be very personal. Claudia, of course, pays the most attention to the 90s, when her star burned especially brightly. Moreover, memories are not always rosy and carefree.
"Modeling is tough, very tough, especially if you are sensitive. Here you need to grow a thick skin. You walk into the studio and hear what people are saying behind your back. They don't even try to be polite, they don't give a damn that you can hear them. They point out all your flaws."
"I can't say that it was better then. Everything was different. Today you immediately see the result. At the same time, there were no digital technologies, we had "Polaroids" and that was all. No one knew for sure what would happen. We worked much harder and much longer, however, and the deadlines were different, and the budgets were much larger. The shooting could take a week or two. And today we are packing for the day. Everything happens faster."
The foreword for the book was written by a close friend of the model, photographer Ellen von Unwerth. Stories related to Schiffer were shared by Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Domenico Dolce with Stefano Gabbana and Karl Lagerfeld, who calls Claudia his muse. "Her appearance on the fashion scene was like the sunrise, and this sun is still shining," he likes to repeat.
