Erwin Blumenfeld was born in Berlin in 1897. He started taking photography at the age of 11. The talent of the photographer was formed under the influence of the current of Dadaism.
After the First World War, the photographer got married and lived for 17 years in Holland, where he improved his skills. In 1936, he moved to Paris and held his first photo exhibition there. In 1941, Blumenfeld emigrated to the United States. His work could be seen on the covers of such famous fashion magazines as Look, Life, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. He became the highest paid freelance photographer in New York, but preferred to consider himself an amateur, choosing as subjects what attracted him the most. And especially attracted the master landscapes, sculpture, architecture, and especially women.
The photographer died in Rome, in 1969, at the age of 71.
