The word Wikkelhouse translates from Dutch as "wrapper house". The process of creating unusual housing really resembles the wrapping process: the frame of the house is wrapped in 24 layers of cardboard. In fact, each such house is an individual project, because they all differ slightly from each other in size.

Each house is assembled from five to six cardboard modules weighing 500 kg, which are easily connected with each other using eco-friendly glue. The customer chooses the required size of housing himself. In addition, Wikkelhouse does not require deep foundations, which makes it easier to install. According to the developer company, the assembly of the house is carried out in just 24 hours by one construction team.

This is how the eco-house wall looks like: cardboard is treated with a water-repellent impregnation, and for additional strength, the structure is reinforced with wood.

The building is characterized by stability and durability. Its total weight is only 3 tons, so the foundation of such a house is not needed.

At the moment, the company accepts pre-orders for the production of cardboard housing: the houses are sold in several European countries. Manufacturers produce only 20 such houses per year "to ensure the highest quality." Wikkelhouse is installed in both urban and rural areas. For example, there is a similar house on the territory of the University of Amsterdam, where it is used as an auditorium for classes.
