Have you ever thought about why young puppies are cute, but older dogs don't seem so attractive? American scientists come to grips with this issue and find out at what age puppies cause the greatest affection. And this is directly related to their survival.

Scientists from the University of Arizona revealed that the peak of mercy in puppies between the ages of six to eight weeks. It just coincides with the time when the mother at the end of the feeding leaves their offspring and it is the most in need of human help.

In the study, 51 man showed a series of black-and-white photos of dogs in different ages, starting from birth. Each participant was asked to rate the level of attractiveness of the dog in each photo. During the experiment we used pictures of cane Corso, Jack Russell Terrier, and a white shepherd. The result was that the lowest was the attractiveness of the newborn puppies, the highest level it reached before the age of 10 weeks, then decreased and leveled off.

Puppies breed cane Corso most touches at the age of 6.3 weeks, Jack-Russell-Terriers — 7.7 weeks, and the white shepherd is 8.3 weeks.

The data obtained is closely connected with the peculiarities of centuries of domestication of dogs. The greatest appeal of puppies acquired at precisely the age when they most need care person. This is especially true of stray puppies whose mothers are left to fend for themselves — their chances of survival directly depend on the person.
