Young people with Down syndrome, Michael Cox and Taylor Anderton from Queensland, Australia, met 6 years ago at a swimming competition and got engaged during a trip to America last year. They are determined to get married and desperately want to have children. 25-year-old Michael said that he and his fiancee dream of four children — three girls and a boy.

Their parents are seriously concerned about the desire of children. They are not against marriage, but they believe that the young couple is not ready at all now or ever for the birth of children.

"Having a child is not that difficult. I know that many people talk about it as the hardest work, but it's not. It's all about love and mutual understanding with the child," Michael believes.

Although Michael and Taylor's parents are happy for their children and fully support their relationship, they are against their desire to have children.

Katherine Musk, Taylor's mom, is very concerned about her daughter's decision and believes that this simply should not and cannot happen.

Both families raised Michael and Taylor so that the guys would believe in their dreams and live independently, but now they are afraid that this has led to unrealistic dreams.

Michael's father, Simon Cox: "Just imagine how difficult it will be for a child with parents who have Down syndrome. They can't have a high-paying job, they can't drive a car or understand math homework at school."

The couple has so far agreed with their parents and postponed the wedding, but they firmly stand by their decision to have children.
