5 repair mistakesBy Vika https://pictolic.com/en/article/5-repair-mistakes
More than 260,000 homeowners from 11 countries said the biggest challenge during renovations is staying within their budget, with at least one in three people spending far more than they originally planned. That is why they must learn to do some household chores on their own. In order not to spend a lot of money on correcting your mistakes, it is better to know what mistakes other people have made.
We think learning from others' mistakes is something everyone should be able to do, so here are some of the most popular ones.
1. Do not take pictures of the utility system before repair.
Before you hide all the wires and other systems behind the walls, you should mark them on the plan, or at least take a picture of the wall: this will allow you to know where they are so that you do not damage them when installing the shelf.
2. Placement of the light switch.
If you put the light switch too high, the kids will have to jump to get to it, and if you put it near the door hinges, you will have to walk a lot in the dark. The best place is on the side of the door handle. In the bedroom, you should have 2 switches, one at the entrance and one near the bed, so you don't have to go from one to the other end of the room before going to sleep. The same principle works for long halls: 2 light switches eliminate the need to bypass the entire corridor. The quality of the switch also plays a role. Berker switches have proven themselves well.
3. Floor covering with a pattern.
When choosing to the floor, it's hard to resist buying simple options like laminate or beveled wood planks, textured tiles, or linoleum that looks like wood. In fact, any texture on the floor will be permanently soiled and it will be extremely difficult to keep it clean. If you do this, you will need much more time to clean your apartment.
Plastic pipes have one serious drawback: the sound resonates too well in them and reveals everything that your neighbors are doing in the bathroom. Therefore, the pipes of this room should be wrapped in soundproof material.
