With the beginning of autumn, the light season of blockbusters will be replaced by a busy season of paintings that major studios are desperately promoting for awards. In order to somehow navigate the huge stream of films, we offer you a selection of the main releases of the fall - from author's paintings to big—budget movie comics. But remember, releases in our country easily move for a few weeks or disappear altogether.
September 27 — "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote/The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" Someday a documentary film "The Man Who Shot Don Quixote" will be made about Terry Gilliam's long-suffering — for about 20 years the director has been trying to realize his dream project. As luck would have it, even after filming, Gilliam had to sue for the rental rights, but everything worked out. The long—awaited premiere took place at the Cannes Film Festival - the film, unfortunately, was met with restraint. Probably, the level of expectation of the project affected. Anyway, mere mortals are not recommended to skip the film rental — it's still better to see with your own eyes how Gilliam's dream project turned out.
September 27 — "Heart of the World"Last year, the main prize of Kinotavr was awarded to Boris Khlebnikov's film "Arrhythmia". The script for it, together with the director himself, was written by Natalia Meshchaninova. This year, the winner of the main Russian festival was the film by Meshchaninova herself — a drama about the life of a lonely veterinarian with the poetic title "Heart of the World". The picture has already been attributed to the main releases of Russian cinema this year — it remains to be hoped that this will actually be the case. A good movie of our country should always be supported by the ruble.
October 4 — "Venom/Venom"Tom Hardy is returning to film comics. 6 years ago, he played Bane in the final part of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Now he has the main role, and what else. Eddie Brock has long been expected on the big screens, despite his appearance in the Sam Raimi film. The potential of the character is so great that it deserves a solo release. The fans waited — a canonical Venom and a great actor in the title role. What else is needed for happiness? Probably, the adult rating is R — but the creators are just doubting whether to lower it to the standard 13+.
October 11 — "Mandy/Mandy"In recent years, the meme man Nicolas Cage has not been going through the best stage of his career - we rarely see films with him in cinemas, because most often they are released immediately on video platforms and media. This year, everything has changed — the mad Panos Kosmatos has returned the good old Cage to us. In this film, he takes revenge on the repulsed sectarians for the death of his girlfriend — the audience is waiting for an infernal visual, fighting on chainsaws and lighting a cigarette from a burning skull. With a high probability, every frame of the movie will disperse to the desktop wallpaper or all the same memes with the actor. In general, the future classics.
October 11 — "Sisters Brothers/The Sisters Brothers"Jacques Audiard decided to try his hand at a genre that seems to have been buried for a long time. His English-language debut is participating in the main competition of the Venice Film Festival, and with such a stellar cast, you see, it will be possible to claim awards. The two main actors of the generation — Jake Gyllenhaal and Joaquin Phoenix, a famous director, black humor and a good old western — it seems that only a curse can prevent the film from becoming successful. We hope that in the case of the same award potential, the picture will not be transferred in our box office closer to the Oscars, that is, in February.
October 11 — "Ecstasy/Climax"If nothing changes, then on October 11 you will have to take a day off and not get out of the cinema. The new film by the scandalous experimenter Gaspard Noe became a real sensation at the Cannes Film Festival — the director even received the main prize of the parallel program "Directors' Fortnight" and could not hold back tears, because this is the first major award in his career. For some reason, there is a huge confidence that a wild dance thriller about a troupe that gets drunk with mixed sangria drugs is definitely waiting for success with critics and viewers. Such unanimity has also never been in the career of the Frenchman.
November 8 — "The Girl who got Stuck in the Web/The Girl in the Spider's Web"Fans have been waiting for a new movie about the adventures of Lisbeth Salander for a long time — well, they finally waited. However, without the Fincher-Mara-Craig trio, because of which the American film adaptation of the first part became successful. The completely updated line-up is beyond doubt: Claire Foy played two seasons in the Netflix "Crown" perfectly, and Federico Alvarez proved his directorial talent with his thriller-shifter "Don't Breathe". The main concern is the original source — the novel, which was written not by the author of the original trilogy Stig Larsson, but by the journalist David Lagercrantz. They say it turned out so badly that the language will not turn to call the work not just a worthy continuation of the Millennium trilogy, but in general at least a little talented detective.
November 15 — "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald/Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald"November 22 — "Widows/
Widows»November 29 — "The House that Jack Built/The House That Jack Built"
