The sky over Kyiv

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/the-sky-over-kyiv.htmlOleg Totsky aka tov_tob writes: “Kyiv is a beautiful and interesting city. Although below I have long been accustomed to its streets, alleys, expanses of the Dnieper and the islands, from above Kyiv never ceases to amaze and delight. From a height, it looks completely different. Small details are not visible, there is only the main essence and a huge city in front of you. Temples and cathedrals, even and not very rows of high and low houses, majestic bridges, numerous islands, graceful curves of the banks of the Dnieper, hills immersed in greenery - this is all Kyiv. Everything that, due to traffic jams and distances on earth, seems so far from each other, becomes close and united. Today I invite you to look at our city from an unusual angle. Or rather, not even look, but rather study - after all, you can look at Kyiv from above for hours. The photographs were taken from a Cessna 172 along the only currently permitted route for flights over the city - along the riverbed of the Dnieper.

1. There are many large and beautiful bridges in Kyiv. Let's look at them first. We enter the city from the south, the first on the route we have the South Bridge. The 133-meter pylon and shrouds, illuminated by the sun, really look like a huge harp.
2. Bridge and Osokorki
3. Old and new Darnitsky bridge, as well as Bereznyaki
4. The shadows from the arches look very interesting.
5. And here we already have the Paton Bridge, Hydropark and Rusanivka. On the left you can see CHPP-6 beyond Troyeshchina, under it you can see the hotel "Tourist". On the right, the Slavutich hotel caught on with one of the bridges across the Rusanovsky Canal
6. Southern end of the Hydropark, Rusanovsky Canal, ave. Reunions and LCD "Silver Breeze" with Bereznyaki. Among the gray panels are visible colored houses Comfort Town

9. Immediately behind the bridge there is a huge green area of the Rusanovsky and Resurrection Gardens
10. Moscow bridge
11. We turn back and we have a stunning view of Obolon, the bay of the same name and the bay of the Dog Mouth
12. Houses along the avenue. Heroes of Stalingrad; see the intersection from the street. Heroes of the Dnieper
13. Obolon is still in the foreground, and Vinogradar, the Minsk massif and a flat strip of Polyarnaya Street are visible in the background

22. Harbor and unfinished Podolsky bridge crossing. By the way, it is correct to call it “Podolsky”, and not “Podolsko-Voskresensky”, as it is written almost everywhere.
23. Podol and both Havana bridges
24. Postal Square with the building of the river station, St. Andrew's Church, the House of Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hang over them. On the left you can see St. Michael's Cathedral and Sofia. Under the horizon, houses along the avenue are clearly visible. Victory. Everything seems so familiar and different at the same time.
25. Pedestrian bridge, Ukrainian House and Monument of Friendship of Peoples. On the left you can see the building of the hotel "Ukraine", and to the right of it stretched houses on Khreshchatyk and Maidan. From this angle, some high-rise buildings on the right bank are also clearly visible: the residential complex “Vremena Goda”, “101 Tower”, the Hilton Hotel, the Court of Appeal, the building near the cycle track, etc.
26. Undeveloped lawn over Sofia - Kyiv-Passenger carriage depot. To be honest, I did not expect to see them in such close proximity.
27. Hotel "Kyiv", a high-rise building on Institutskaya, the building of the Supreme Council and the Cabinet of Ministers and a newly built helipad under the Mariinsky Park. Above the Cabinet of Ministers, the red building of Kyiv University is visible; on the left you can see the blue glass of the IFC "Gulliver"
