You can do this even unnoticed and get into an awkward situation. For example, like our wonderful Bolshoi Theater, which was recently accused of racism by a famous black ballerina from the USA. No, she was not denied the role of Snow White in the production of the same name, moreover, the stage actress was offended, so to speak, in absentia, right from overseas.
The prima of American Ballet Theatre Misty Copeland claims that the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia is guilty of racism. The dark-skinned ballerina stated this on her Twitter, presenting irrefutable evidence.
The artist attached to her post a photo of two young dancers, made up as black girls for the production of "Bayadere". The teenagers' faces are covered with brown makeup, and their hands and feet are covered with dark gloves and tights. Misty's photo was bitterly flavored with the signature "The Reality of the ballet world", which, apparently, encourages subscribers to be outraged by what they saw.
Subscribers did not take long to wait and immediately burst into angry comments. One of Copeland's fans bluntly stated that she sees a real "blackface" in the photo, that is, a caricature image of dark-skinned people using makeup and other improvised means.
Those who turned out to be against such a formulation also got involved in the controversy. Journalist Yulia Vityazeva was surprised by Copeland's accusations and suggested that the ballerina from the United States simply staged a "witch hunt" and gratuitous "harassment of two young ballerinas."London journalist Lusine Avetyan also supported her colleague in the workshop, who published a post on social networks with the following content:
Russian ballet lovers have also come to the defense of the country's main theater. Some even reminded Copeland that in ballet, in general, they never do without makeup.
Let's hope that the black ballerina will quickly get enough of playing the defender of the rights of African Americans and will do what she does best, that is, dancing. Moreover, Misty has something to be proud of — she became the first black prima ballerina in the history of the American Ballet Theater.
And we can only hope that Will Smith or Samuel L. Jackson will not see the famous Gaidai "Operation Y", because this openly racist film will definitely lead to a scandal at the international level.
It could be funny if it wasn't sad. In the USA, the so-called "black racism" already leads to the fact that whites are oppressed in universities and offices.
