The paintings of Italian artist Robert Ferri are a deep reflection on the boundaries of love, sensuality and perversion. The modern artist transfers seemingly typical Baroque images into the mythological dimension and creates completely new myths.
Roberto Ferri was born in the Italian city of Toronto in 1978. He graduated from art school and lyceum in his hometown. Subsequently, until 1999, he studied painting on his own. He was especially interested in the classics of the 16th and 17th centuries. Roberto's thirst for knowledge led him to Rome, where he graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts.
The artist's works are in the most important and significant collections in Rome, Milan, Paris, London, New York, Barcelona, Madrid, San Antonio, Dublin, Qatar, Boston and others. All of Roberto Ferri's work is based on deep love and imitation of artists who worked in the Baroque style; the artist is especially inspired by the paintings of Caravaggio. The old masters of romanticism and symbolism undoubtedly also greatly influenced the artist’s work.
His paintings are full of symbolism and imagery. The heroes of the works have excellent figures with a well-drawn muscle structure. On the one hand, Roberto Ferri’s imitation of ancient artists does not prevent him from being a modern master who lives and creates in our world. The contradictions and duality of the master’s paintings, coupled with the original beauty, make it possible to call Roberto Ferri an artist with a capital letter.
Ferry is a virtuoso who brings dreams into reality. True, sometimes dreams turn into a nightmare: the perfection of his figures is combined with deformation, with absolutely fantastic forms, the images become frightening. There is something of Bosch in this.
Ferri paints like an 18th century artist, but the themes of his stunning paintings are modern and relevant. His works are in the most important and significant collections in Rome, Paris, London, New York and others. Drawing on the work of Michelangelo and Caravaggio and the masters of the Baroque era, this contemporary artist reinterprets classical aesthetics in his stunning paintings to create something completely different.
