26-year-old Mariana Varela from Argentina and 22-year-old Fabiola Valentin from Puerto Rico met in March 2021. The first meeting took place at the Miss Grand International contest in Thailand, where everyone represented their country. They did not become winners, although they got into the top ten finalists.
