Clothes, houses, cars, gadgets—everything is similar and aimed at satisfying the demands of the masses. Fortunately, there are still designers creating unique, stylish pieces. And, of course, there are those who go overboard.

The Ugly Design community has been delighting users of the social network X (formerly Twitter) with examples of unusual, yet incredibly bad design for years. The account was created by two Swiss, Jonas Niffenegger and Sébastien Mathy. They pride themselves on collecting only the cream of the crop of terrible design, and with over 1,500 posts to their name, they show no signs of stopping.

And how can they quit and retire when the guys are sent hundreds of "masterpieces" every day from all over the world? Jonas and Sebastien are confident that the flow will never stop. That's because we often overlook good design because we take it for granted. But bad design always irritates us because it fails to fulfill its purpose, neither functional nor aesthetic. We've compiled a selection of the worst design decisions of recent years—enjoy!

Sometimes it's hard to believe that real people with degrees, ideas, and, apparently, a sense of humor are behind these absurd decisions. But perhaps it's precisely because of these failures that we appreciate truly good design more deeply? What do you think: is ugly design an unfortunate mistake or a way of self-expression and challenging standards?
